ST. PETERSBURG - Volunteers are needed to assist The Mahaffey in the launch of its first museum-quality exhibition, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, opening Saturday, Oct. 6.
Volunteer ushers are also needed for the performing arts center’s upcoming 2012-2013 theatrical season.
The Mahaffey is seeking those looking for an interesting and educational way to give back in their community, and is excited to offer Tampa Bay residents the opportunity to be a part of ‘The Mahaffey Experience.’
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition tells the compelling stories of those aboard the Titanic through authentic artifacts recovered from the ocean floor. The five-month exhibition will run through early March. The Mahaffey is proud to help commemorate Titanic’s 100th anniversary and share the stories of those aboard the ill-fated ship. The exhibition will be open seven days a week.
Volunteer ushers will serve as ticket takers, greeters, exhibition escorts and be available to answer questions on the floor. Throughout the season, ushers will have the opportunity to work at a variety of shows including concerts, musicals, theatrical productions, comedy shows and more.
Training sessions in preparation for the 2012-2013 season, as well as Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, are Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. and Sept. 27 at 3 p.m.
This volunteer opportunity is ideal for someone who loves the theater and is a fun way to give back and make new friends. To learn more about volunteering with The Mahaffey, please call Volunteer Coordinator, Ann Sayce at 727-892-5857 or email asayce@TheMahaffey.com.
