Photos on display at Beach Art Center

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - Members of the Photographic Art Society of Florida will exhibit artworks at the Beach Art Center in Indian Rocks Beach from Aug. 8 to Oct. 13.
An opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited.
The Photographic Art Society of Florida is a nonprofit organization for photographers who wish to expand their knowledge of photography as an art form.
Artists exhibiting in the show are Alex Spassoff, Candace Webb, Charmaine Martinez, Cheryl Anne Day-Swallow, Christopher Sheppard, David Mathre, Debbie Stubbs, Dick Caldwell, Donna Linder, Elizabeth Kraker, Fred Borgianini, Glen Desthers, Glenn Nielsen, Gloria Matyszyk, Jane Egbert, Jim Pennington, Jim Swallow, JoAnn Lousberg, Joe Martin, John Sagert, Karen Mason, Kari Sheppard, Lee Brand, Manny Bonewitz, Nils Sheppard, Peter Lousberg, Prudy Olsen, Sandy Thomas, Sonia Smith, Terri Gross and Tom Carnahan.
As an organization, members discuss photographic issues and current events, and educate photographic artists in the use of Adobe PhotoShop, Elements and other digital imaging products. The group considers all types of photographic media to be art, including art that has been created by using traditional film, slides, Polaroid and digital photography. Works to be exhibited include a wide variety of film photography, manipulated images and digital images.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to noon Friday. The center is closed Saturday and Sunday.
