Tarpon Springs Cultural Center to host quilt exhibit

TARPON SPRINGS – The Tarpon Springs Cultural Center and the West Pasco Quilters’ Guild Inc. present Celebrate the Quilt exhibit from Saturday, Oct. 6 through Wednesday, Nov. 28.

The quilts on display feature precision piecing, appliqué which has been described as painting with fabric, photo transfer, beading and embroidery techniques. Display case items will feature antique sewing machines, dolls and sewing ephemera.

There will be a meet the quilters reception on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2 to 4 p.m. A demonstration day is planned for Saturday, Nov. 10, 2 to 4 p.m. when members of the WPQG will demonstrate quilting, appliqué, piecing techniques. They also will answer questions about quilt storage.

The Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 S. Pinellas Ave., is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
