LARGO - The following events and exhibitions are featured at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art for October:
• Continuing through Nov. 6 - Florida Focus: Northern Tropics. This exhibition, the fourth in the Florida Focus series, is designed to provide a look at some of the most provocative contemporary art occurring in the north Florida region. Curated by Rena Blades, former executive director of the Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science in Tallahassee, the exhibit will explore the contemporary art scene in north Florida from Jacksonville to the Panhandle in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation. Exhibiting artists include George Blakely, Lilian Garcia-Roig, Linda Hall, Alexa Kleinbard, Mark Lindquist, Mark Messersmith, Donna O'Neal, Jim Roche, Kris Rybka, Duncan Stewart, Paul Tamanian and Cate Wyatt-Magalian.
• Saturday, Oct. 29 - 7 to 10 p.m. Les Fauves will present Halloween with Kink, a party for adults which will include a showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." The event also will feature pumpkin painting, a cash bar and live music in the sculpture courtyard. Guests should come dressed up, as the best costume will receive a gruesome gift. Free for Les Fauves members, $5 for guests.
• Through Oct. 31 - Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Sundays, 2 p.m. (excluding holidays and dates when monthly series films are scheduled). "Jasper Johns" (56 minutes, dubbed). Free.
