The art exhibit Florida: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow will be on display through Saturday, Oct. 31, at Brooker Creek Preserve, 3940 Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs.
The exhibition captures the essence of Brooker Creek Preserve as a result of art cloth, which is a layering process on fabric. The Art Cloth Alliance, a group of 13 Tampa Bay fiber artists, uses their creativity to depict Florida’s unique environment and natural history on cloth. Art cloth is created by hand-dyeing fabric with ancient dye techniques, stenciling, screen printing and stamping.
The exhibit is open during regular Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center hours. Admission is free. Call 453-6800.
Two exhibits will continue through Sunday, Nov. 1, at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E. in St. Petersburg.
The Facets of Florida 2007-09 Exhibition showcases the work of Misty Beauchamp and features oils and mixed media. Beauchamp’s paintings focus on conservation and depict scenes of Florida that are rapidly vanishing.
Florida Wildbirds and Habitats Exhibition features the wildlife photography of Maxis Gamez. Gamez’s style of wildlife photography expresses creativity and interesting techniques as it captures nature and wildlife.
Both exhibits will be on display during normal center hours. Admission is free. Call 453-6500.
