More than a dozen north county artists are inviting the public to tour their studios and watch them as they work during the 21st annual Studio Waltz Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The tour includes painting, drawing, sculpture, lampworking, printmaking, woodturning, ceramics, pastel, fiber, papier maché, mosaics, jewelry, and photography.

Attendees can buy art directly from the artists and enjoy interacting with them as they demonstrate their techniques.

The tour is free. Start at any location and visit as many studios as you wish.

Three of this year’s participating artists can be found in Clearwater, Denis Gaston, who does mixed-media painting and drawing, and Tony and Karen Marsh, who specialize in woodturning and copper and sterling jewelry.

Move on to Dunedin where six artists will be working in four locations, including painter Ernest C. Simmons, watercolor artist Debra Weible and painter Jenna Star Friedman. In addition, Carol Sackman and Blake White will be showing a new 8-inch mosaic garden arch, smaller mosaics, painted furniture, fiber art and mixed media. Barbara Grazul Hubbard will demonstrate the making of hand-colored linoleum prints, etchings and print collages.

Travel north to Palm Harbor where five artists in five locations continue the waltz. Connie Parkinson will demonstrate lampworking. Silversmith Amy Wiley will exhibit her jewelry, and printmaker/illustrator Holly Bird will show her works. Lorraine Potocki will have her pastels available to see and Joyce Curvin will demonstrate the art of Papier mache and mixed media.

The final stop – or first depending on the route you take – will be at the studio of Jennifer S. Weaver and Lee Anderson and their burnished and smoke-fired ceramics.

Directions to all the studios, along with a self-guided map, are available at studiowaltz.com.
