ST. PETERSBURG - The Sensuous Senator by Michael Parker plays Friday through Sunday, Nov. 2-18, at City Theatre in St. Petersburg.
Show times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday with 2 p.m. matinees on Sunday.
Meet Senator Harry Douglas, a candidate running on morality and family values … his escort tonight isn’t his wife.
Michael Parker’s Sensuous Senator arrives at City Theatre just in time for the November elections. Why not take a night off from the TV campaigning and enjoy a lively farce with all too timely political satire. The laughs are on us in a show that makes and breaks all its political promises in one hysterical evening of fun.
Senator Harry Douglas is running for president and with just weeks before the election finds himself with an evening when his wife is leaving town. Wasting no time he calls Veronica his secretary to come over for the night but to his disappointment she can’t make it. No problem, he calls the Capitol Escort Agency.
First problem, Congressman Clyde Salt who’s locked himself out of his townhouse, comes over. No problem, a little sleepy time cocktail for Clyde should solve that issue except Jack Maguire, Harry’s nephew and first term congressman shows up to discuss the campaign and inadvertently drinks the cocktail.
And Veronica changes her mind and arrives for a romantic evening while the reporter for the National Intruder gets wind of a possible story. Did we mention the CIA? It might be a big problem for Harry and you don’t want to miss what happens next.
Tickets are $22. Call the Box Office at 727-866-1973 or visit www.splt.org.
