Michele Tuegel Contemporary invites the public to celebrate the holiday season and winter solstice with a show titled “The Great Indoors.”
Downtown St. Petersburg’s newest fine art gallery, Michele Tuegel Contemporary, invites the public to celebrate the holiday season and winter solstice beginning with a reception on Friday, Nov. 9, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. titled “The Great Indoors.”
The show features Tuegel’s current stable of nationally-recognized artists plus many new, invited artists who are exhibiting handmade holiday ornaments and a wide and unusual assortment of art and craft designed for gift-giving.
The gallery is already gaining recognition for its rich and inviting atmosphere, which combines art from the past and present to create visual concepts for the future. Customers, visitors and collectors can find fine glass, fiber works, ceramics and contemporary jewelry and painting displayed cohesively among African masks, textiles, the work of indigenous cultures in wood and clay which are several hundred years old.
Many of the pieces carry folklorical stories and and amazing handcraft from a variety of cultural traditions. Visitors and collectors will have an opportunity to experience the definition of “contemporary” in unusual formats through the combination of ‘past and present’ objects working in motifs and vignettes which are very contemporary ideas in today’s world of art and design.
The holidays bring in several new artists, an eclectic collection of holiday ornaments, greeting cards and interesting design collections filling all of your gift-giving needs. The gallery also offers a “Wish List”, wedding registry, complimentary gift wrap, layaway, fine art framing services and gift certificates. Customers filling out a “Wish List” card take home a note with a chocolate truffle attached as a special “hint” to their significant other!
Admission is free and open to the public. The show closes Dec. 4.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and beginning Nov. 23 will be open Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
