CLEARWATER – Four area artists have been selected to exhibit their artwork on Saturday, Nov. 12, in the 42nd annual Sumi-e Society of America juried exhibition at the J. Harrison Smith Fine Art Gallery & Studio.
A reception from 6 to 9 p.m. opens the exhibition of 87 artworks. The area artists are Susan Frame, Clearwater; Robbie Miles, Dee DeVane, Tampa; and Simone Tieber-Wemple of St. Petersburg. Yang Chan of Tampa, will exhibit by invitation.
A workshop, led by juror and artist Cheng-Khee Chee, will be at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center. An awards banquet will be on Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Island Way Grill.
The Sumi-e Society of America Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about the art of Sumi-e (East Asian Brush Painting). This is the second time since 1963 that the exhibition and events have been in Florida.
