Local author publishes spy thriller PINELLAS COUNTY – “The Roar of the Dragon,” written by Tampa Bay area resident Bill Berry, is now available from Alphabet Publishing.
The book is an espionage thriller set in China, Panama and the United States. Berry explores a chillingly plausible scenario of what could happen as China and the United States vie for military and ideological supremacy on the world stage. The tale’s protagonist, Col. Brian Maguire, is tapped to resurrect America’s nuclear missile defense system. Meanwhile, Chinese spies are recruited to steal the technology and make the system ineffective before it is deployed.
Berry earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Iowa and attended graduate school at the University of Chicago. He has worked for a manufacturer of laboratory instruments, for the federal government, and he has successfully operated his own business. He has been awarded multiple U.S. patents for products he created. He and his wife live in Florida. This is his first novel.
