Local libraries ready for summer reading

School’s out for summer, and local libraries have plenty of ideas of how to keep student’s minds occupied until the class bells ring again.
The Clearwater Public Library System kicked off its summer reading program on Monday, June 8, at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave. Other reading kick-off programs begin at the branch libraries, including: Countryside Library, 2741 State Road 580 on Tuesday, June 9, 2 p.m.; East Library, 2251 Drew St. on Wednesday, June 10, 2 p.m.; and North Greenwood Library, 905 N. MLK Jr. Ave. on Thursday, June 11, 3 p.m.

- Wednesdays, June 10-July 29, 10 a.m. - Family Storytime includes stories, songs, movies and crafts at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave. - Thursdays, June 11-June 30, 10 a.m. - Melody Hounds will teach children musical concepts. For ages 2.5 through 8 at the East Library, 2251 Drew St.
- Fridays, June 12-July 24, 2:30 p.m. - Movie at the North Greenwood Library, 905 N. MLK Jr. Ave.
- Saturday, June 13, 2 p.m. - At Dirty, Stinky Fun Day, make a garbage truck out of recycled materials at the East Library, 2251 Drew St. Please register online, www.myclearwater.com/cpl.
- Monday, June 15, 2 p.m. - Jiggle Man will present a juggling show with audience participation at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave.
- Tuesday, June 16, 2 p.m. - The story of “Rumplestiltskin” presented by Play ’n Around Traveling Children’s Theatre at Countryside Library, 2741 State Road 580.
-Wednesday, June 17, 2 p.m. - Anna Moo Music will feature a concert of music and stories at East Library, 2251 Drew St.
- Wednesday, June 17, 2 p.m. - At Survivor Island: Dewey Island, participate in challenges and win prizes at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave. Registration required, call 727-562-4970 or visit www.myclearwater.com/cpl.
- Thursday, June 18, 3 p.m. - Anna Moo Music will feature a concert of music and stories at the North Greenwood Library, 905 N. MLK Jr. Ave.
- _Friday, June 19, 10 a.m. - Enjoy Show Time with the Dascaloja Puppeteers as they perform songs, folktales and puppet shows at Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave.

Indian Rocks Beach
A summer reading program for children in preschool through the fifth grade will be offered Tuesdays, 2 p.m., June 160-July 21, at Indian Rocks Beach Library, 1507 Bay Palm Blvd.
The program will feature good books, storytelling, arts and crafts, music and Agape the Reading Therapy Dog. New books for all ages will be on display. Registration is not necessary. Call Jane Mitchell at 596-1822.
