SAFETY HARBOR – The Safety Harbor Public Library has announced the new writer’s group, “The Story Circle Network,” facilitated by writer and coach, Jan Golden. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month and is dedicated to helping writers share stories of their lives and raise public awareness of the importance of personal histories. Stories Across the Miles for Grandparents
PALM HARBOR - The Youth Services Department of Palm Harbor Library is offering a free service to grandparents who would like to be videotaped reading stories and recreating cherished memories for their grandchildren who might live in the next town or across the country.

The program is scheduled throughout the day on Saturday, Nov. 28.  Each couple or individual is given a 20-minute session to read their own holiday favorites or stories from the library’s collection. This program, which has been offered in the past in conjunction with Grandparents Day, has been very popular. Several participants even bought copies of the books they read to send along with the DVD - another great holiday idea.

In-person registration is required at the children's desk and space is limited. For more information, call 727-784-3332, Ext. 3018. The Palm Harbor Library is located at 2330 Nebraska Ave.

Toys and tools for special needs
PALM HARBOR – The Youth Services Department of Palm Harbor Public Library offers Toys and Tools to Go, which includes a large number of specially adapted toys, communication devices, capability switches and activity centers for children who are physically challenged or developmentally delayed.

All of the items allow for special needs children to have access to toys that might be ordinarily too expensive for their families, caregivers, teachers or therapists to purchase.

In 2003, the Palm Harbor Friends of the Library gave a $5,000 grant to initially fund this collection, and subsequent funding and donations were received by various other organizations and individuals, including the Palm Harbor Civic Club and the Palm Harbor Junior Women’s Club.

These toys and tools may also be used by physically challenged adults. The collection is available to anyone with a valid library card, and all items must be checked out and returned to the children’s desk of the library. The library is at 2330 Nebraska Ave. Call 784-3332, ext. 3018.
