April music lineup includes Blues Fest, Springsteen

PINELLAS COUNTY – From classic rock, pop and industrial to country, jazz and blues, April is shaping up as a busy month for music lovers.
One of this month's highlights is the Tampa Bay Blues Fest on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 11, 12 and 13, at Vinoy Waterfront Park in downtown St. Petersburg. One of the world’s most respected blues festivals, the Tampa Bay Blues Fest has been delivering the best in blues since 1995. A three-day pass is available for $75. One-day tickets are $30.
Jannus Landing Courtyard
Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen swings by the area on Wednesday, April 23, 6 p.m., bringing the C-U-LaTour – reportedly the band’s final road trip – to Jannus Landing Courtyard.
The industrial metal band released “The Last Sucker” in September 2007, wrapping up a trilogy of blatantly political albums which included “Houses of the Molé” and “Rio Grande Blood.” Jourgensen reported that it would be the band’s last studio release. Tickets are $34.

- Sunday, April 20 – The AP Tour featuring The Matches, Sonny, Forever the Sickest Kids, All Time Low and The Rocket Summer; 7 p.m. Tickets are $13.
- Friday, April 25 – Darryl Worley with Jennifer Hanson, 8 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance or $22 at the door.
- Tuesday, April 29 – Ozomatli, 8 p.m. Tickets are $14.99 in advance or $18 at the door.
- Wednesday, April 30 – Thrice, 7 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance.

Largo Cultural Center

The Mahaffey Theater

Ruth Eckerd Hall
Sheryl Crow brings her show to Clearwater on Tuesday, April 29, 8 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Tickets range from $46 to $96.
Crow recently released a new album, “Detours,” featuring both personal songs – like “Lullaby For Wyatt” – as well as political ones – such as “Gasoline” which showcases Ben Harper’s talents. Her unique fusion of country, rock, pop, blues and folk has earned her nine Grammy Awards during the course of her career.

- Thursday, April 17 – Adam Pascal, 10 p.m. Tickets are $30.
- Sunday, April 20 – Earth, Wind & Fire, 7 p.m. Tickets range from $49 to $95.
- Tuesday, April 22 – Honda Civic Tour featuring Panic at the Disco, 7 p.m. Tickets are $35.

St. Pete Times Forum
One of the biggest names in music, Bruce Springsteen will bring his tour to the Tampa Bay area in April. The Boss will take the stage on Monday, April 21, 7:30 p.m., at the St. Pete Times Forum.
Touring in support of his “Magic,” Springsteen’s 23rd album, the artist will be joined by his legendary E Street Band, including Clarence Clemons on saxophone and guitarists Nils Lofgren and Steven Van Zandt. Tickets range from $67.75 to $97.75.

- Saturday, April 26 – Andre Rieu, 8 p.m. Tickets range from $52.75 to $77.75.
- Sunday, April 27 – Bon Jovi, 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $49.50 to $132.25.

Skipper’s Smokehouse
The Sauce Boss – Bill Wharton – will combine Florida blues with hot sauce in a big pot of gumbo on Friday, April 18, 8 p.m., at Skipper’s Smokehouse. The cover charge is $13.
According to the legend, Wharton discovered a vintage National Steel guitar in his front yard one morning in the early 1970s, wandered down to the woodshed and penned “Let the Big Dog Eat” and has been traveling along the blues path ever since. The Sauce Boss has a reputation for combining smokin’ blues with simmering gumbo on stage, cooking up dinner for the crowd.
“Raw,” the newest release from the Sauce Boss, will be available on April 1.

- Sunday, April 6 -- Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival featuring Nikolai Massenkoff and a

- Saturday, April 26 – HuDost, 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 adults, $13 members.
