Multi-platinum recording artist Scotty McCreery performs March 28 at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
CLEARWATER – American Idol winner Scotty McCreery performs Friday, March 28, 7:30 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen Booth Road.

The multi-platinum recording artist boasts album sales approaching $2 million, two consecutive album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart and a combined 2.4 million followers on Facebook and Twitter – all in less than two years.

There is no doubt that McCreery has emerged as one of country’s hottest new stars. His deep voice and an irresistible sound create the perfect blend of contemporary and traditional country. With more than 200 live shows under his belt across the United States, Canada and the Philippines, McCreery has become a crowd favorite appealing to all ages. His fan base is one of the most dedicated and enthusiastic in the country music world. His first headlining tour has been very successful, with numerous sell-outs and additional shows added to meet the demand.

McCreery walked away the victor of the 10th season of “American Idol,” and he wasted no time recording and releasing his debut album, “Clear as Day.” The album was the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. Adding to the achievement, McCreery became the youngest man in history to have his first album debut atop the all-genre Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

“Clear as Day” went on to be certified platinum for sales of one million in just 13 weeks. The first two singles from the album were certified gold. McCreery’s follow-up to “Clear as Day,” the 2012 Christmas album “Christmas with Scotty McCreery,” also was certified gold.

McCreery was named Top New Artist by Billboard and won Best New Artist Awards at the Academy of Country Music Awards, the American Country Awards and the CMT Awards. He was named Breakthrough Artist at the 2013 American Country Awards.

His latest album release, “See You Tonight,” released last fall, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart. He co-wrote the first single “See You Tonight” as well as four others on the album. “See You Tonight” was McCreery’s first Top 10 hit.

McCreery is currently on his first headlining tour, which runs through the end of the summer and will cross the country making stops in more than 50 U.S. markets – including famed venues like Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. and House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Tickets are priced at $62.50, $49.50 and $39.50 and available at the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office, by calling 727-791-7400 or visiting www.RuthEckerdHall.com. Pre-show dining is also available. The Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and one hour prior to show time.
