TAMPA - Urban music superstar Daddy Yankee's concert at the USF Sun Dome has been postponed until May 9 due to tour conflicts. Tickets purchased for the original show on April 5 will be honored for the rescheduled show. The show starts at 8 p.m.

“Be ready, the Big Boss is coming,” he said after confirming the date with local promoter Valentin Productions. Daddy Yankee’s latest tour “Talento de Barrio” has already set attendance records all over Latin America.  More than 30,000 people attended his show at the Hernando Siles Stadium in La Paz, Bolivia.

Another 25,000 fans packed the Palacio de los Deportes Virgilio Travieso Soto and the Cibao Arena in The Dominican Republic.  The first leg of his US tour has 10 confirmed dates so far, all of them in the East coast.

To add more bling to his success, he was just crowned “King of the Festival” at the world renowned 50th Festival de la Canción Viña de Mar in Chile, where he shared the stage with artists such as Marc Anthony, Juanes and Luis Fonsi, but conquered the 15,000-people crowd and took the crown home.  His new movie, “Talento de Barrio,” also broke attendance records in Puerto Rico with more than 12,000 tickets sold on opening night alone.  His latest album, “Talento de Barrio: The Soundtrack,” leads the Latin charts and has already earned multiple nominations for upcoming industry awards.

For the last three years, Daddy Yankee has been the best-selling artist in Latin music. His prior album “El Cartel: The Big Boss”, was the top-selling album among all Latin music categories, selling over 1 million copies in 2007, and was named Album of the Year at the 2008 Billboard Awards.  A year earlier, his live CD/DVD “Barrio Fino en Directo” was 2006’s biggest selling Latin album with 2 million copies sold worldwide.  Consequently, he was named Artist of the Year at the 2007 Billboard Latin Music Awards and the MTV Latin American Video Music Awards, Composer of the Year by ASCAP, and Urban Artist of the Year at Univision’s Premios Lo Nuestro.  People en Español also named him one of the 100 Most Influential People in its January issue.

“This is exciting news for Daddy Yankee fans who have not seen him in Tampa in nearly ten years, and we are very pleased that he has accepted our invitation to perform in our city,” said Luis R Valentin, president and CEO of Valentin Productions, “We pride ourselves in bringing top Latin shows to the Tampa Bay area and in continuing to grow this market to open our doors for other major acts just like Daddy Yankee.”

Ticket prices range from $35, a great value for second level seats, to $55 in first level and $85 in the more exclusive VIP floor.  This is an all-age event; minors accompanied by an adult guardian are welcome.
