Springsteen's 23rd album Magic was released Oct. 2, 2007 on Columbia Records and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. Magic has been certified double Platinum.

This is Springsteen’s first studio recording with the E Street Band in five years. Produced and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, the album features 11 new Springsteen songs and was recorded at Southern Tracks Recording Studio in Atlanta, Ga.

Current E Street Band's members are Roy Bittan, keyboards; Clarence Clemons, saxophone, percussion; Charles Giordano, keyboards; Nils Lofgren, guitars; Patti Scialfa, vocals, guitar; Garry Tallent, bass; Steven Van Zandt, guitars; and Max Weinberg, drums.

Danny Federici, an original member of the E Street Band, had been taking leave of absence from the current Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tour to pursue treatment for melanoma. Charles Giordano, who had been filling in for Federici played with Springsteen as a member of the Sessions Band. Federici has been playing keyboards with Springsteen since the late 60s.

"Danny is one of the pillars of our sound and has played beside me as a great friend for more than 40 years," Springsteen said.
