Steely Dan, Stevie Nicks top June’s concert lineup

PINELLAS COUNTY – June will usher in the summer concert season with Tampa Bay area appearances by a variety of musical artists, including performances by up-and-coming progressive metal acts, classic rock icons, blues legends and indie bands.
Headliner Dream Theater will bring the Progressive Nation Tour to town on Sunday, June 1, 7 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen Booth Road., Clearwater. Opening bands will include Three, Between the Buried and Me and Opeth.

The Suncoast Blues Society’s 11th Anniversary Party will take place on Saturday, June 11, at Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, Tampa.

Dallas native Darrell Nulisch will headline. Nulisch began singing full-time in 1978 as one of the founding members of Black Top Records recording artists Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets. He also worked with Mike Morgand and the Crawl as well as Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters. He formed his own band, Texas Heat, in 1990.
Opening the show will be the Charlie Morris Band. Several items will be entered in a silent auction, with proceeds benefiting the society’s community service programs, the Diamond Teeth Mary Fund and Rock Bottom scholarships.
Ford Amphitheatre
Stevie Nicks will perform on Sunday, June 8, 7:30 p.m., at Ford Amphitheatre. Tickets range from $25 to $125.
Nicks has enjoyed an extensive solo career in addition to her work with the band Fleetwood Mac. Over the course of her lifetime, she has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards. Her first solo venture, 1981’s “Bella Donna,” including the lead single “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” a collaboration with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Later this year, Nicks plans to release a CD/DVD set of her 2007 appearance on “PBS Soundstage.”

The British new wave band The Fixx will perform on Friday, June 27, 7 p.m., at Jannus Landing. Tickets range from $12.50 to $15.
The band is remembered for hits such as “One Thing Leads to Another,” “Red Skies,” “Stand or Fall” and “Saved by Zero.” The band recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the release of their landmark album “Reach the Beach.”

Steely Dan will perform on Monday, June 9, 8 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Tickets range from $75.50 to $135.
The Grammy-award winning jazz-rock fusion band features Walter Becker and Donald Fagen. Active since 1971, the band is known for classic hits like “Do It Again,” “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Rikki Don’t Lose that Number,” “Peg” and “Hey Nineteen.” Their most recent studio album, “Everything Must Go,” was released in 2003.

Toronto’s Enter The Haggis, a quintet known to indulge in as many as 18 different genres of music, will play Skipper’s Smokehouse on Friday, June 20, 8 p.m.
From rock and Latin to bluegrass and Celtic, this fusion band has amassed fans across the country with high-energy, dynamic performances. Their most recent studio album, “Soapbox Heroes,” was produced by Grammy-award winner Neil Dorfsman.
