CLEARWATER – Carole King brings her Living Room Tour to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Wednesday, July 9, 8 p.m.
Tickets, priced at $125, $95 and $75 are available at the Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office, located at 1111 McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater; by calling 727-791-7400; or online at www.rutheckerdhall.com. The Ruth Eckerd Hall Ticket Office is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and one hour prior to show time.
King is a four-time Grammy Award winner, Songwriter Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Her career spans 40 years and includes an astonishing 21 Top 40 hits, including seven No. 1 singles.
Along with her writing partner Gerry Goffin, they first hit it big with “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” recorded by The Shirelles. Their 1965 song “Pleasant Valley Sunday” was a No. 3 hit for The Monkees.
Other hits include “Go Away Little Girl,” a No.1 song for Steve Lawrence; the No.1 single “The Loco-Motion,” recorded by Little Eva; “One Fine Day,” recorded by The Chiffons and (You Make Me Feel Like) “A Natural Woman,” recorded by Aretha Franklin, among many others.
Her best-received album Tapestry (1971) was instantly recognized as one of the landmark albums of the singer-songwriter genre of the early 1970s. With numerous hit singles (“It’s Too Late,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “I Feel The Earth Move,” “So Far Away,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?”), Tapestry would remain on the charts for nearly six years and sell more than 10 million copies in the United States alone and an estimated 22 million worldwide, remaining her most popular album among fans and critics alike.
