Gigantour featuring Megadeth headed to the Forum
Article published on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006
TAMPA - The Gigantour featuring Megadeth with special guests Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Into Eternity, Sanctity, and The Smashup will bring their alternative metal sound back to the St. Pete Times Forum on Friday, Oct. 6, 4:30 p.m., which is earlier than the originally scheduled time of 5 p.m.

Dave Mustaine, former band member of Metallica, formed the thrash metal quartet Megadeth. By streamlining the classic thrash metal approach Megadeth became one of the leading bands of the genre during the mid-'80s and late '80s.

Against the new millennium backdrop of one-hit wonders and pop divas, Mustaine vows to "Take back the metal." After celebrating two decades in the often fickle music industry, Mustaine is still constantly reinventing himself, producing fresh and innovative music while still remaining firmly anchored in his metal roots. Fans can also look forward to hearing some of Megadeth's most recent stuff including their album The System has Failed.

Don't miss this year's Gigantour, which is a monstrous music festival that celebrates and embraces the amazingly diverse metal genre. The tour was a great success in its first year and promises to be even better in its second year when it emerges as a well-oiled machine.

Tickets are $36.75, plus service charges, and available at the McDonald's box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including FYE and Spec's Music. To order tickets by phone, call Ticketmaster at 813-287-8844 or 727-898-2100. Tickets also are available online at ticketmaster.com.
