ST. PETERSBURG – The Palladium will present “Dick Hyman at the Movies” on Sunday, Sept. 11, 3 p.m., as it kicks off this season’s jazz series.
Hyman will project screen versions of the songs he composed or arranged for Woody Allen and other filmmakers, then perform improvised piano fantasies for each title. Hyman served as composer, arranger, conductor and pianist for such films as “Zelig,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” “Broadway Danny Rose,” “Stardust Memories,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” “Radio Days” and more.

Other performances in the 2005-2006 Palladium Presents Jazz Series will include Carol Sloan, the Dan McMillion Jazz Orchestra, Profiles in Jazz, Rick Gee’s Jazz Jamm with tributes to John Lamb, Lillette Jenkins-Wisner, the Manzy Harris-Rey Davis bands, and USF Jazz Masterworks with guest artists David Baker, Gordon Goodwin, Karrin Allyson and Chick Corea.
