SEMINOLE – Music in the Park, the city’s annual outdoor music concert series, will continue with a performance by Gloria West and the Gents on Friday, Sept. 22, 7 p.m., at Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Road, Seminole.
Gloria West, an old-school jazz vocalist, brings her unique style and sound to the stage evoking a bygone era. With more than five years of experience in live performance, West’s stage presence is described as magnetic and vibrant. Her sound is reminiscent of Billie Holiday and Norah Jones.
With her stride-swing style, she leads her band The Gents. Members include Stephen Dornfeld on piano, Anthony Castellano on piano and vocals, Tony Shannon on jazz guitar, James Suggs on trumpet, Jonathan Cestero on saxophone, Austin Vickrey on clarinet, Derek Reynolds on trombone, Glenn Stevenson on upright bass, Paul Gavin on drums and Gumbi Ortiz on percussion.
The Music in the Park series showcases select Tampa Bay area musicians on six consecutive Fridays. This year’s series will conclude on Oct. 13. Each evening, the music will run 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.
