America’s Youngest Jazz Band concert benefits youth sailing
Article published on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008 |
DUNEDIN - Sonny LaRosa and America’s Youngest Jazz Band is playing a benefit concert for the Dunedin Youth Sailing Associationon Saturday, Oct. 4, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Dunedin Community Center located at the corner of Michigan and Pinehurst in Dunedin.
Sonny LaRosa and America’s Youngest Jazz Band has been around for decades. The Dunedin Youth Sailing Association is brand new. The Kiwanis Club of Dunedin thinks they can make beautiful music together.
In an effort to build on its recent successful Regatta, the Dunedin Kiwanis have scheduled a concert to benefit the fledgling Dunedin Youth Sailing Association. Concert tickets are $15 and available at the community center and the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce.
Early in its history, thanks to a dock built to accommodate schooners and sloops and the ingenuity of pioneers from as near as Georgia and as far as Scotland, Dunedin became one of Florida’s chief seaports and trading centers. At one time the village had the largest fleet of sailing vessels in Florida.
This concert supports a youth sailing program that fosters the values that Dunedin grew up on; responsibility, team-building, sportsmanship, and fairness in this ecologically sound sport.
Join them as they make the lives of kids in Tampa Bay just a little bit better, one step at a time. Join them because it’s all for the kids!
