Ellie Lee to play Seminole City Park

Ellie Lee plays Oct. 6 at Seminole City Park as part of the Music in the Park series.
SEMINOLE – Music in the Park, the city’s annual outdoor music concert series, will continue with a performance by Ellie Lee on Friday, Oct. 6, 7 p.m., at Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Road, Seminole.

Winner of numerous awards, Lee plays and sings like there’s no tomorrow. The blues guitarist, singer, songwriter is known for her soulful voice and ripping guitar solos.

According to her website, Lee grew up playing in rock, blues, funk and show bands. She traveled extensively in the southern states honing her skills as a blues musician. After a 25-year hiatus to raise a family, she’s back in the spotlight.

“I want to present an eclectic collection of old, new and original tunes with a focus on variety, energy and dynamics,” Lee said on her website.

Lee formed her band to satisfy the need to play the music she loves and have fun doing it.

“Our excitement and enthusiasm on stage are infectious to the crowds we play to,” she said on her Facebook page. “Time and time again people have told us how much fun we seem to be having during our performances. For us, it’s an itch we must scratch.”

The Music in the Park series showcases select Tampa Bay area musicians on six consecutive Fridays. This year’s series will conclude on Oct. 13. Each evening, the music will run 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

C & C Cars to announce raffle winner at concert

C & C Cars, a family owned and operated business in Pinellas Park, has partnered with Building Homes for Heroes, a nonprofit organization.

This year, C & C Cars will be raffling off a 2012 Kia Soul with 80,000 miles. All proceeds will go to Building Homes for Heroes to help fund its next project. Tickets cost $5 each and may be purchased at various locations throughout Seminole including the recreation center.

Ticket sales will end Thursday, Oct. 5. The winner will be selected live on stage Friday, Oct. 6, during intermission, at the Music in the Park concert at Seminole City Park.

Building Homes for Heroes runs on volunteers. These loving, dedicated, passionate people work hard to help provide veterans with homes once they come back from serving with injuries of all different types.

The organization builds or modifies homes, and gifts them, mortgage-free, to veterans and their families.
