John Mayer and Sheryl Crow bring tour to Amphitheatre
Article published on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006
TAMPA - John Mayer and Sheryl Crow are coming to the Ford Amphitheatre on Thursday, Oct. 12, 6:30 p.m.

They have sold a combined 33 million albums, have a 12-pack of Grammys, and are among the most admired songwriters in contemporary music. This summer, superstars Mayer and Crow join forces on a 27-city tour across North America.

Musician Mayer is prone to accomplishment. From his acclaimed debut "Room For Squares" to his most recent work with the John Mayer Trio, the guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has sold more than eight million albums, earning three Grammy Awards and the respect of both his peers and predecessors. He has performed with icons such as Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, and Herbie Hancock, and collaborated with contemporaries from Kanye West to Alicia Keys. Joining Mayer this summer are famed guitarist Robbie McIntosh, guitarist David Ryan Harris, and longtime Mayer players bassist David LaBruyere and drummer JJ Johnson.

Mayer's third studio album, released in September and aptly-titled CONTINUUM, makes good on its name, fulfilling the promise expected from such a musical resume.

With nearly 25 million albums sold and 9 Grammy Awards under her belt, Crow is one of rock and roll's most accomplished and respected Singer-songwriters. Crow is no stranger to interesting collaborations.

She has worked with everyone from the Rolling Stones to Kid Rock to Willie Nelson. On her current single "Always on Your Side," from her acclaimed Wildflower album, she is joined by longtime label-mate Sting.

This summer's tour is a triumphant return for Crow, who earlier this year underwent treatment for breast cancer. A portion of every ticket sold on this summer's tour will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Reserved seat tickets are $66 and $46; festival lawn, $30.50 and available by phone at 727-898-2100, at all Ticketmaster locations and at www.livenation.com.
