TARPON SPRINGS - Award-winning folk singer-songwriter Pete Gallagher (bass) joins up with Pat Barmore (guitar) to perform original songs and favorite folk ballads Friday, Nov. 9, 8 p.m., at Tarpon Springs Cultural Center.
Gallagher hosts the popular WMNF Saturday morning Florida Folk Show. A regular performer at the state Folk Festival every year since 1971, he has penned many Florida folk tunes, among them “Bobby Hicks,” “Chokoloskee” and “Raiford.”
Together, Gallagher and Barmore have appeared in clubs, festivals, dive bars, barbecue joints and campgrounds across Florida since 2001. Every week they host Florida Folk Nights around the Tampa Bay area and Jack Kerouac Nights in St. Petersburg.
“If you want to hear real Florida folk music,” observed the late Florida author/folklorist Stetson Kennedy, “… high-tail it over Tampa Bay and listen to Pat and Pete.”
Tickets are $14, and $12 for members and students.
