Concert lineup December brings the gift of music

PINELLAS COUNTY Decembers concert lineup boasts a number of holiday-themed shows in addition to much-anticipated performances by AC/DC, Yes and Carrie Underwood.
Miller Lite will present the 97X Next Big Thing concert on Sunday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. at the Ford Amphitheatre, Florida State Fairgrounds, 4802 U.S. Highway 301 N., Tampa.
Participating bands include Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown, Atreyu, Flogging Molly, Flobots, Jacks Mannequin, Shiny Toy Guns, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Saving Abel, Ludo, Anberlin, 3 Oh! 3 and Framing Hanley. Tickets begin at $30.
An Ellington Christmas will feature the talents of Nate Najar, Ken Peplowski and Tht Redd Brothers on Saturday, Dec. 13, 7:30 p.m., at the Palladium Theatre at St. Petersburg College, 253 Fifth Ave. N., St. Petersburg.
The great Duke Ellington and his colleague Billy Strayhorn were so taken by Tschaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite that they arranged it for jazz orchestra. Najar, Peplowski and the Redd Brothers will perform a rollicking rendition of the Jazz Nutcracker along with other favorite holiday classics.
