DeGraw began honing his piano skills at the age of eight. After a brief stint at the prestigious Berklee School of Music, DeGraw decided to take his original songs to New York City. He eventually signed a record deal with Clive Davis.
In 2003, DeGraw released his debut album Chariot. His first single, “I Don’t Want to Be,” was a Top Ten hit. His next single, “Chariot,” was also met with positive response and climbed the charts in 2005, pushing the album to double platinum sales. In 2008, he released his self-titled sophomore album, which debuted at No. 1 on the digital sales chart and at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart.
In fall 2011, his fourth album, Sweeter, ranked among the Top Digital Albums and The Billboard 200. The lead single “Not Over You” reached the top spot on the Adult Top 40.
In between modeling gigs and surfing trips, Tristan Prettyman began showcasing her acoustic songs at local parties and small venues. Buzz around Prettyman continued to grow as she toured with G. Love & Special Sauce and fellow San Diego-based folk-popper Jason Mraz. She recorded and self-released the Love EP in 2003. She eventually signed with Virgin Records. Her debut offering of acoustic folk-pop, Twentythree, appeared in 2005, featuring contributions from Mraz and other several ace session players. In 2008, she released Hello…x. In 2012, Prettyman released the introspective but still electric-sounding Cedar + Gold.
