Article published on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007
TAMPA - In the midst of one of the most highly anticipated and successful tours of the year, Van Halen announced that they will extend their historic tour into 2008 with a stop at the St. Pete Times Forum on Feb. 18, 2008.

Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Alex Van Halen, and Wolfgang Van Halen, together for the first time in 22 years, will kick off the New Year by extending their tour into 28 additional cities. Tickets for the Feb. 18 date at the St. Pete Times Forum go on sale this Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. at the McDonald’s Box Office and ticketmaster.

All tickets are priced at $49.50, $79.50 and $149.50.  Prices do not include service charges. Tickets are available at the McDonald's Box Office at the St. Pete Times Forum and all Ticketmaster Outlets including Spec’s Music and FYE. To order tickets by phone, call Ticketmaster at 813-287-8844 or 727-898-2100.

The 2007 tour has drawn over 600,000 fans thus far with sold out shows in cities across America, winning the praise of fans and critics alike.  “From the first power chords of "You Really Got Me," the band hit a hard groove that didn't let up for the next two hours,” said the New York Daily News. The Hollywood Reporter said: “For one perfect night…Van Halen was nothing short of spectacular.”

Formed in Los Angeles in 1974, the band has always been known for their electrifying live shows. From the moment they released their self-titled 1978 debut album, Van Halen shook the foundations of rock, thanks largely to Roth’s peerless showmanship, Eddie Van Halen’s revolutionary guitar virtuosity and their songwriting abilities. Their music has changed rock and roll forever and will continue to.

Pollstar – the international newsweekly of the music industry, and one of the concert industry’s leading publications, released a report on ticket sales for the first half of 2007.  The St. Pete Times Forum, in its tenth year of operation, ranked as the number eight venue in the United States with a total of 174,227 tickets sold to concerts, events and family shows for the period of 1/1/07 – 7/19/07.  The study ranked the top 100 venues in the world by actual ticket sales for concert events and family shows. This will mark the 10th consecutive year that the venue has ranked in the top 10 arenas in the United States in this category.
