Article published on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007
CLEARWATER - Winter Wonderland swings to the music of Jive Aces on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

The Jive Aces brings the audience to their feet with their high energy, non-stop music, bright suits, irresistible humor and professionalism. The band is the UK’s top jive and swing band and have starred in thousands of major festivals, theatres, clubs and corporate events around the world including the House of Blues, Apollo Theatre, Montreux Jazz Festival, Palladium, Cannes Film Festival and Royal Albert Hall. They are renowned for their high energy Jump Jive music, a blend of danceable swing, R&B, Rock ‘n’ Roll, boogie and Jump Blues.

The Jive Aces have worked alongside diverse artists such as Van Morrison, Isaac Hayes, the Count Basie Orchestra, Buddy Greco, Acker Bilk and a host of others. Their unique sound comes from a combination of their own original tunes in true swing style as well as fresh arrangements of classics by such greats as Louis Prima (Just a Gigolo), Louis Jordan (Five Guys Named Mo), Cab Calloway (Minnie the Moocher), Count Basie, Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong.

Winter Wonderland is a charity drive that collects food and toys for the Homeless Emergency Project. It is in its 15th year. It is produced annually by the Clearwater Community Volunteers of the Church of Scientology. Admission is free but guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or unwrapped new boy for charity. Activities this year include cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus; photos with Santa; the petting zoo and pony rides; bouncy house; blow-up slide; playground and live entertainment during the run of the event.

Located on the corner of Drew and Fort Harrison, Winter Wonderland will be open through Dec. 21. Hours are 6-9 p.m. week nights and 1-9 p.m. weekends.
