DUNEDIN Ė Gypsy Stage Repertory Company and the Showcase Arts Foundation Inc. are hosting an open mic on the last Thursday of the month during Cabaret night.
The first Cabaret is Thursday, Jan. 30 at the SAFI theater space, 1714 County Road 1, Suite 2, in Dunedin.
The hostess is Tamara Spiri, a singer who has opened for comedians Jackie Mason and Nipsy Russell. Spriri has sung everywhere from small cabaret venues with only a pianist to major venues fronting an 18-piece orchestra.
A PA will be provided and members of the Gypsy Stage will also perform songs and sketch comedy.
Other performers are encouraged to come and sign up for a performance slot, first come first served. Anything goes from music to comedy. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door.
Artistic Director Lil Barcaski said, "This is going to be a real happening every month. The $5 suggested donation and funds raised from snacks and libations will help with expenses and overhead for our little theater space and training facility while raising awareness of our organization. I am so looking forward to our first Cabaret on January 30. I may even sing a song or two."
