Oldsmar Cares hosts its fourth annual Wine and Food Gala Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Nielsen Ballroom, 501 Brooker Creek Blvd, Oldsmar.
OLDSMAR - Join Oldsmar Cares for its fourth annual Wine and Food Gala, Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Nielsen Ballroom, 501 Brooker Creek Blvd, Oldsmar.
This year's event is the day before Valentine's Day. Organizers say it promises to be a night to remember, with all the elegance and romance of a classic movie.
"After three years at East Lake Woodlands Country Club, the 2014 Oldsmar Cares Gala will move to Nielsen, expanding the event area and providing more room for everyone to mingle in one grand space," said David Wallace, co-chair Oldsmar Cares Gala.
Last year the Oldsmar Cares Wine and Food Gala had its best year to date with donations to assist families in the greater Oldsmar area with food, clothing, and rent and utility assistance exceeding $55,000. The sold-out event surpasses expectations each year-with this past February's event showing more than 55 percent growth in donations and attendance from the first Gala in 2011.
This year-over-year success has driven the Oldsmar Cares Gala Committee to bring something new to the event each year. The last Gala welcomed special guest and Oldsmar's brightest star, Lindsey Norton of "America's Got Talent" greeting Gala guests as they arrived. For 2014 with the new space at the Nielsen Ballroom a photo booth and beer tasting will be the new attractions.
Oldsmar Cares is a unique community-based organization managed 100 percent by caring and committed volunteers.
"The volunteer committee for Oldsmar Cares is the perfect mix of community leaders, business professionals and caring neighbors, all coming together to put on a spectacular evening," said Dan Saracki, Oldsmar Cares Gala event co-chair. "It's not hard to understand why the event draws people from all over Tampa Bay."
This year 20 local area restaurants and wine vendors will again offer their signature dishes and wine tasting. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy dishes like hog fish with collard greens and sweet potato and plantain chips prepared by Rumba Island Bar & Grill, which won the 2013 Gala Best Taste award.
The remaining restaurants and distributors serving their best dishes and wine during the evening include; Amici's Catered Cuisine, Applebee's, Bess Grill, The Brass Tap, Buffalo Wild Wings, The Cook's Club of Tampa Bay, Cracker Barrel, Cuban Breezes, Daddy's Grill, Famous Greek, Flamestone, Green Market Cafe, PRP Wine International, Publix Boot Ranch, Republic National Distributing Company, Rumba Island Bar & Grill, Salt Rock Tavern, Starbucks Coffee, Tijuana Flats and Yogurt Mountain.
Oldsmar Mayor and US 103.5 radio personality Doug Bevis will entertain the crowd as auctioneer and Masters of Ceremony while bidding gets fierce for auction items, such as a Harley Davidson adventure weekend, Saddlebrook golf and accommodation package, six-night getaway to Vale, Colo., and Porsche Boxster Cabriolet sports car weekends.
One of the highlights of the evening is the drawing of the grand door prize, dinner-for-two from all 15 participating restaurants. That's more than one night out a month for one lucky winner.
