CLEARWATER - Bright House Networks presents Clearwater’s Blast Friday in the Cleveland Street District on Friday, Feb. 22.
This free street festival will feature a variety of vendors, as well as food, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. The street fair begins at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment outside until 10 p.m. Special guests The Dunwells will open the show. Blast Friday is produced by Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason, a co-founder and original member of the band Traffic, will be bringing his guitar and performing hits from Traffic along with those from his impressive solo career.
Guitarist, vocalist, and one of the principal songwriters for the band, Mason penned one of the band’s biggest hits, Hole In My Shoe, which appeared on their first album in 1967. The following year, the band’s self-titled second album contained another classic hit by Dave Feelin’ Alright, a song that was eventually covered by numerous artists. In 1970, he had his first taste of solo success with the song Only You Know and I Know and in 1977, Dave had his biggest hit with We Just Disagree.
Over the years, Mason has performed and recorded with some of rock's greatest musicians including The Rolling Stones (Beggars Banquet), Eric Clapton, George Harrison (All Things Must Pass), Paul McCartney (Listen to What the Man Said), Fleetwood Mac, Cass Elliot and Jimi Hendrix. If you listen closely to All Along The Watchtower, that's Mason on acoustic guitar.
