The third annual Oldsmar Cares Wine & Food Gala is Feb. 21 at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club.
OLDSMAR – The third annual Oldsmar Cares Wine & Food Gala, which has earned the reputation as the social event of the year, will be held at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club on Thursday, Feb. 21, 6 to 9 p.m.
This event is more than an elegant fun-filled gala of scrumptious food and wine tastings; it’s also an opportunity to raise money to help families in upper Pinellas County.
“Our goal is to add a few surprises, but overall continue with the same basic principle, create a fun evening where people can come together to help their neighbor’s in need,” said Suzanne Vale, co-chair, Oldsmar Cares Board of Directors. “We are excited that special guest and Oldsmar's brightest star, Lindsey Norton of “America’s Got Talent” will greet Gala guests as they arrive this year.”
With more than 450 attendees and more than $38,000 raised, last year’s sold-out Gala helped hundreds of families in upper Pinellas County.
Oldsmar Cares is a unique community-based organization that operates a food pantry, clothes closet and provides stop-gap rent and utility assistance to families in the communities in and around Oldsmar. The organization is 100 percent volunteer managed and staffed by caring and committed members of the community.
“Many business and community leaders have rallied behind our organization due to the tremendous need to raise funds for families in the greater-Oldsmar area who have fallen on hard times. This year’s event promises to deliver more of everything,” said David Wallace, co-chair, Oldsmar Cares Board of Directors.
Sponsors this year include: city of Oldsmar, DLW Architects, Holloway Funeral Home, Impact Grafx, Metropolitan Advertising, Nielsen, Oldsmar Tap House, Raymond James, Republic Services, Rotary Club of Oldsmar/East Lake, Schmalz Insurance, Specialty Glass, StellarNet Inc., Tampa Bay Downs, TECO and World Currency Capital.
The event will feature a wide selection of food from 15 local area restaurants including: Aki Sushi, Applebee's, Apron's Simple Meals - Publix at Boot Ranch, Buffalo Wild Wings, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Chocolates by Michelle, Cracker Barrel, Famous Pizza, Fratelli Italian Restaurant, Get Healthy Vitamins & Natural Foods, Mystic Fish, Rumba Island Bar & Grill, Starbucks Coffee, Sugardarlings Cakes & Cupcakes and Tampa Bay Cook's Club.
To complement the food, attendees can sip samples of wine from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, PRP Wine International and Southern Wine and Spirits.
Bay News 9 reporter Virginia Johnson will again take the microphone as the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies. Oldsmar’s Mayor Elect and 103.5 Radio personality Doug Bevis will entertain us as he gives vacation packages, adventures, and one-of-a-kind items to the highest bidder.
Items include a luxury cottage in Sparkle Lake, Highlands, North Carolina, golf vacation packages, a weekend behind the wheel of a luxury sports car and other high-end items donated by area businesses. There will also be nearly 100 silent auction items including golf at the area’s most exclusive courses, Lightning Hockey tickets, salon services, handcrafted items and gift baskets.
Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 at the door and include delicious signature dishes and generous wine samples and a chance to win the grand prize drawing – dinner for two at all 15 participating restaurants.
