Sponge boat captain and diver Taso Karistinos teaches Greek cooking.
TARPON SPRINGS - A Greek cooking class is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the historic 1883 Safford House, 23 Parkin Court, Tarpon Springs. The cost is $20 per class, or $18 for members and students.
Sponge boat captain and diver Taso Karistinos is an accomplished proponent of one-pot sponge boat cooking. In his first cooking class of 2014 Taso teaches class members to make Greek vegetable soup with avgolemono (egg-lemon) sauce and summer salad—and will season them with lots of stories.
Join Karistinos for food, fun, and fascinating cultural insights. Call 727-942-5605 or purchase tickets online at TarponArts.org.
Space is limited to 12 participants.
Classes are presented by the City of Tarpon Springs’ Gulf Coast Folklife Center. Programs are funded in part with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts’ Folk & Traditional Arts Program.
