“The Greatest Show on Surf” makes a splash in Treasure Island Thursday to Sunday, March 14-17 on the public beach at Gulf Front Park, 10400 Gulf Blvd.
TREASURE ISLAND – “The Greatest Show on Surf” will make a splash in Treasure Island Thursday to Sunday, March 14-17 on the public beach at Gulf Front Park, 10400 Gulf Blvd.
Hours are 3 to 11 p.m. Thursday; noon to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The annual event, which was previously held at Treasure Island Community Park, will feature carnival rides, midway games, food and craft vendors, fireworks, live local music – plus a special performance by country music legend Sawyer Brown on Saturday, March 16.
Admission is free. Ride-all-day wristbands are $20; $17 in advance, call 727-547-4575, ext. 237.
With three CMT video awards, 50-plus Billboard Hot Country Songs and 16 top-10 singles, Sawyer Brown has been one of country music’s most influential voices for nearly 30 years.
Seven of its singles have topped the charts. They include “Step that Step,” “Used to Blue,” “This Missin’ You Heart of Mine,” “The Dirt Road,” “Some Girls Do,” “Thank God for You” and “Drive Me Wild.”
Other featured entertainers include the Michael Allman Band.
The son of rock and roll icon Greg Allman, Michael followed in his famous father’s footsteps with his 2010 album “Hard Labor Creek,” and ever since, the comparisons between the two have been inevitable.
There is no charge to attend. Beach parking is available for $10.
The entrance to the beach is at the St. Petersburg Municipal Lot on 112th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard.
Festival sponsors include The Rotary Club of the Gulf Beaches, the City of Treasure Island and The Edwards Family Foundation.
All net proceeds are returned to community charities and organizations: Polio Plus, SPC student scholarships, Pinellas Educational Foundation, Rotary Camp Florida, Pinellas Education Foundation Doorway/Save Scholarships, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Guardian ad Litem and the Edwards Family Foundation.

Friday, March 15 – 5 p.m., Josh Magwood; 6:30 p.m., Shawn Brown Band; 8:30 p.m. – The Greg Billings Band.
Saturday, March 16 – noon, soulRcoaster; 2 p.m., Michael Allman Band; 4 p.m., Betty Fox; 6 p.m., Gale Trippsmith Band; 8 p.m., Sawyer Brown. Fireworks follow at 9:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 17 – noon, Colt Clark; 1:30 p.m., John Kelly Band; 3:30 p.m., Jeremy Thomas Band; 5:30 p.m., Amanda Drake and the Barnburners.
