TREASURE ISLAND – The third annual Treasure Island Blues Bash is Saturday, April 26, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., at Treasure Island Community Center Park. Headlining this year’s event is Texas guitarist Beautiful Bobby Blackmon. Admission is free.
The festival begins at 11 a.m. with two sets from the 18-piece swing and jazz band Tomkats Jazz Orchestra. Next up at 1:30 p.m. are Florida blues and Americana icon T.C. Carr and Bolts of Blue, featuring Josh Nelms on guitar.
Sarasota Slim brings his blues-slinging band on stage at 3:15, followed by Doug Deming and the Jeweltones at 5 p.m. Deming brings a blend of traditional blues, West Coast and Texas swing, early rock, country and roots music.
As the bash heads toward sunset, soulful vocalist Shawn Brown, takes the stage at 6:45 p.m. Beautiful Bobby Blackmon follows at 8:30 p.m. with southern soul and blues, seasoned with rhythm and blues.
Festival vendors are open all day and evening, along with the food court, from 11am to 10pm. Parking is available all day for $10 at lots in the Community Center Park, at Gulf Front Park, 104th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard; and in the lot across from the Rally gast station at 108th Avenue and Gulf Boulevard.
