John Levique Pirate Days coming June 6-8

MADEIRA BEACH - The seventh annual John Levique Pirate Days is June 6-8 at John's Pass Village.

Celebrate the discovery of John's Pass and get prepared for hurricane season during three pirate-themed days of free family fun. Proceeds benefit the Fisherman Lost at Sea Fund.

Hours are Friday, 3 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 10 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Activities planned for the event include: The Pirates Ball and Adult Costume Contest; open air market and Brigands Bazaar; hurricane awareness area; Village-wide treasure hunt; flotilla invasion and water battle; pirates parads and pillage the village; an adults-only pub crawl; children's costume contest and various actis and entertainment throughout the village.

Free parking and shuttle from Madeira Beach Middle School will be available, courtesy of Treasure Island Casino Cruz on Saturday.

Friday's schedule

7 to 11 p.m. - Pirates Ball at VFW Post 4256

9 p.m. - Wench Auction

10 p.m. - Adults Costume Contest.

Pub Crawl tickets will be sold for $25 at the Pirates Ball! Only 100 tickets will be available for sale.

Saturday's activity schedule

noon - Pirate shit invasion and sea battle

noon to 6 p.m. - Family Treasure Hunt begins at Gators Parasail. Limited to 200 families who search for treasure at participating merchants throughout John's Pass Village. Once all the treasure has been collected, families can enter to win the grand prize, which is a treasure chest of loot donated by John's Pass merchants to be awarded to one winner.

1 p.m. - walking parade from Gator's to Don's Dock

1:20 p.m. - Walking parade through John's Pass Village

1:30 p.m. - First Fight Circle; pub crawl begins

4:30 p.m. - Childrens costume contest at the Pirates Dinner Adventure stage. Three winners will be named. All participants will receive a prize

9 p.m. - Fire show and drumming circle

Sunday's schedule

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Family Treasure Hunt continues

4:30 p.m. - Grand Prize Treasure Hunt Drawing at Gators Parasail

Ongoing Activities: Saturday and Sunday

- Hurricane Awareness: To get folks ready for hurricane season, the hurricane awareness area will be laden with detailed information provided by The American Red Cross and Pinellas County Emergency Management. Florida Blood Services will be on site accepting blood donations.

- Fisherman Lost At Sea: Purchase a GO! Coupon book and half the proceeds will go to the Fisherman Lost At Sea Memorial fund. Chance tickets and silent Auction.

- Brigands Bazaar and Open Air Market. Purchase piratical wares and tasty treats from a variety of unique marketeers! The Brigands Bazaar will have ample piratical wares and trinkets to trade! Purchase costumes, accessories and authentic pirate articles from over 50 piratical vendors and artisans! There is plenty of pirate treasure to be found in the many shops of John’s Pass Village as well! This years inaugural Open Air Market will feature fresh produce to help fight scurvy, as well as a variety of tasty morsels to suite everyone’s palate! There will be a bounty of food, drink and entertainment, and costumes are encouraged!

- Various Stage Entertainment: Various Acts & Entertainers throughout the village: Stage shows, Bird Shows, Musicians and Minstrels. Piratical Merriment for all ages. To see a list of entertainers, visit www.johnspassfestivals.com/jlpd/docs/entertainment.html.

- Pub Crawl: Tickets will be available at the Pirates Ball, at beginning of the Walking Parade route, and at the event information booth. Only 100 tickets available for sale! Ticket includes a Special Edition T-shirt and seven stops on the crawl! Leisurely and ongoing throughout the weekend.

- Water Taxi Boat to and from Gators. Hourly throughout the hours of the event $5. Call 727-392-6912
