The eighth annual Pinellas Pepper Fest is Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8, at the England Brothers Bandshell Park in Pinellas Park.
PINELLAS PARK – Hot and spicy is the theme of the eighth annual Pinellas Pepper Fest Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8, at the England Brothers Bandshell Park, 5010 81st Ave. N. in Pinellas Park.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 with kids age 12 and under admitted free.
Pepper Fest features hot and spicy food to sample and purchase, including hot sauces, pepper plants, barbecue sauce, salsas and spices.
Events on Saturday include a pepper eating contest. Contestants should sign up by 1 p.m. The contest begins at 2 p.m. Sign up by noon to enter the amateur hot sauce competition. Contestants should bring at least 16 ounces of their homemade hot sauce for the judging. Entries will be accepted from 11 a.m. to noon. The winner will be announced at 3 p.m. The contest if a “people’s choice” event.
On Sunday, take part in the Lolly Lick-A-Thon. Sign up by before 1 p.m. The contest begins at 2 p.m. Sign up before 12:30 p.m. to participate in the amateur salsa competition. Entries will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Contestants should bring at least 16 ounces of the homemade concoction for judging. Winner of the people’s choice event will be announced at 3 p.m.
The people also will decide the winner of the favorite vendor competition. Votes must be in by 2 p.m. The winner will be announced at 3 p.m.
All events are free to enter.
The Beautiful Corpses will play at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and Stonegrey will play at 12:30 Sunday, as two of the bands on tap both days of the festival. The others have not yet been announced. DJ XL will be spinning tunes throughout the festival.
