Enjoy traditional Greek dancing at the city of Tarpon Springs’ Summer Solstice Festival kickoff on June 20 at the Sponge Docks.
TARPON SPRINGS - The city of Tarpon Springs Cultural Treasures Program announces its opening event of the first annual Summer Solstice Festival of the Performing Arts, a seven week festival of music, dance, theater, and workshops in four historic venues.

The festival is supported by a grant from the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Visitors and Convention Bureau.

The Summer Solstice Festival opens with a free event on the world famous Sponge Docks - "A Night in Islands" on Saturday, June 20, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Enjoy Greek music under the stars at the Sponge Docks and dine outside at local restaurants. Ellada, an exciting Greek band composed of three of the most accomplished Greek musicians in the state, will perform outside on Dodecanese Boulevard (the Sponge Docks) between Hope and Athens streets. Ellada performs nisiotika, the lively traditional music of the Greek islands, as well as some old and new popular Greek classics.

Ellada is George Soffos, bouzouki; Dino Theofilos, keyboard; and Elias Konstantinou, vocals.
