GULFPORT - Swing Time is celebrating its ninth anniversary on Friday, Oct. 2, at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom.
Music will be provided by Charlie Vegas and the New Blues Combo.
The celebration includes hours of live music and dancing from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.; a group swing-dance lesson from 8 to 9 p.m. - no partner needed; anniversary cake, prize giveaways, and a dance contest at intermission with $100 cash first prize.
Get ready to jump, rock and swing with Tampa Bay's most exciting swingin' act, Charlie Vegas & the New Blues Combo. This talented and energetic band features sax, drums, bass, and Vegas himself on guitar, harmonica & vocals.
The band is a hot commodity, recently backing doo-wop and rockabilly legends, The Coasters, Rosie Flores and Wanda Jackson. Whether it's uptempo and jumpin' or low down and gritty, these guys deliver a huge and varied repertoire of dance favorites, along with the power, the sound, and the excitement that'll pull you up out of your seat and get you onto your feet.
Swing Time is Florida's Premier Swing Event, held the first Friday of every month in Tampa Bay at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom, located in the St. Petersburg area at 5500 Shore Blvd. S., Gulfport FL 33707.
The all ages event takes place in a smoke-free environment in the retro waterfront ballroom complete with a huge floating-wood dance floor. A full bar is available.
Admission is $11 and includes free dance lessons and parking.
