ST. PETERSBURG – The 20th annual Tampa Bay Times Festival of Reading is Saturday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, 140 Seventh Ave. S.
This free festival is a celebration of literacy featuring nationally renowned authors, book signings, panel discussions and entertainment. To date, more than 40 authors are confirmed to appear at the 2012 festival. The featured authors include bestsellers such as Dennis Lehane, Michael Koryta, Rhoda Janzen, Alafair Burke and Enid Shomer.
In addition to the author appearances, there will be an extensive Book Market featuring local merchants and entertainment, plus food and drink concessions.
Organizers are seeking booksellers and vendors of literacy-related merchandise to be part of the Book Market. Applications can be downloaded from the Times Festival of Reading Web site at www.festivalofreading.com or requested by leaving a name, address and phone number on the Festival of Reading information line at 892-2358. Sponsorship opportunities also are available, and inquiries can be made to the information line.
The Times Festival of Reading has drawn an annual attendance of approximately 5,000 book-lovers through the course of its history. The USF St. Petersburg campus is located in downtown St. Petersburg. Attendees may utilize campus and downtown parking, giving easy access to all events throughout the day.
