Gulfport: Celebrate Art on Nov 21
Gulfport Third Saturday Art Walk: Saturday, Nov. 21, 6 to 10 p.m.

GULFPORT - Enjoy an autumn night while taking in Gulfport’s authentic “Old Florida“ atmosphere. Peruse the work of over 50 artists and crafters, as well as authors, antique dealers and entertainers stretched over a half-mile up and down scenic Beach Blvd.

While browsing the art and craft booths, don’t miss Gulfport’s unique shops, boutiques and galleries. Enjoy dinner at one of over a dozen fine restaurants within the Art District, now one of the foremost dining destinations in the Bay Area. Star-gaze and people-watch while strolling under the lighted trees in this seaside village. No chain stores, no malls, no parking meters; just small-town charm.

Live entertainers, including Gail Biron, Dwayne Slayton, Gun Hill Road and the Paul Anthony Band will be appearing at venues throughout the Village. And don’t miss free glass-blowing demonstrations by award-winning artist Owen Pach at the Industrial Arts Center, also offering “Blow Your Own” mini-classes in glass blowing.

Something special for the Nov. 21 event will be a "Cooperative Art Walk Extravaganza." Gulfport is working with St. Petersburg's newly opened Flamingo Resort to bring you two Art Walks on one day.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Studio Mares at the Flamingo Resort, 4601 34th St. S. in St. Petersburg, will exhibit art from renowned local, American and international artists. Displays will be set up surrounding the court yard of the resort, billed as the largest GLBT resort in the Southeast.

The fun continues with Gulfport's popular Art Walk from 6 to 10 p.m. In addition to the local artists and crafters set up along Beach Blvd., an exhibit of art sponsored by Studio Mares will take place at Gulfport's Peninsula Inn in the heart of the Waterfront Art District during Art Walk hours.

Water taxi rides will be available for participants to travel back and forth from the resort to Gulfport for a nominal fee.

For more information about Studio Mares at the Flamingo Resort, contact Greg Powers by e-mail at nativebounty@yahoo.com.

Gulfport Art Walk takes place on the First Friday and Third Saturday of every month, year-round. Parking is always free and free trolley rides are available from off-site parking areas, including nearby Catherine Hickman Theatre and Gulfport Public Library. Pet and family friendly, experience a unique dining, shopping and cultural experience unlike any other.

For information on many other Gulfport events, visit www.exploregulfport.com, www.gulfportflorida.us, or www.gulfportma.com.

The Gulfport Art Walk and event recorded information line is 866-ART-WALK. Artists and vendors interested in participating can find more information and download an application at www.SuzieKing.com.
