TARPON SPRINGS – The local charitable group 4-Hearts plans its fifth annual Hearts of Gold Holiday Fair Thursday, Nov. 29, 6:30 to 9 p.m., at Cypress Run Golf Club, 2669 St. Andrews Blvd.
The event is an open house-style vendor party, featuring a number of area boutiques and local businesses.
Admission is $10 and includes the opportunity for holiday shopping, along with hors d’oeuvres, specialty libations, a raffle, silent auction and free gift wrapping.
Proceeds from the fundraiser provide hundreds of Christmas and Hanukkah dinners to families in the area.

4-Hearts dates back to 2008 when four charitable-minded women – Carol Wood of Lutz, Kathi Givens, Karen Levine and Rose Chervitz of Palm Harbor – combined their efforts with a single goal in mind, which was to help make a difference in their community.
With the main idea of neighbors helping neighbors and making a positive impact where they lived, the four women launched a grass roots, start-up nonprofit group.
The core belief that people are good at heart and want to help others, but don’t know how or where to start, was the catalyst for the group’s direction. Once a need in the community is identified an email blast is sent out.
In January 2010, the Tampa Bay area suffered its worst cold snap in years. Shelters did not have enough coats and blankets to cover the demand. An email was sent to the tree, and coats, sweaters and blankets came in large numbers.
The 4-Hearts collected enough donations for three shelters. Knowing their theory worked, they knew they needed growth to help support their mission.
With the welcome additions of Vicki Hafner of Oldsmar and Jamie Murphy of St. Petersburg, the group gained more resources and “woman power” to reach even higher levels.
Over the last five years and with the support of their friends, family, email tree and community, the 4-Hearts have fed and clothed thousands, collected toiletries for those without, hosted school supply drives, worked with the elderly, and much more. All events have a recurring theme; benefiting families and children in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.
On May 3, 4-Hearts will host its fourth annual 4-Hearts Golf Classic at Cypress Run.
This charitable event has allowed the 4-Hearts to donate tens of thousands of dollars to help military veterans, the homeless, foster care and active military personnel. To learn more about it, contact Levine at Karen@4-Hearts.org
