PINELLAS PARK – “Spirit of the Marathon,” an inspirational journey of perseverance and personal triumph, will be presented on Thursday, Jan. 24, 7:30 p.m., at Regal Park Place Stadium, 7200 U.S. 19 N.
From the three-time Academy Award winning filmmaker Mark Jonathan Harris comes the first nonfiction feature film to capture the drama and essence of the famed 26.2-mile running event.
Filmed on four continents, “Spirit of the Marathon” brings together a diverse cast of amateur athletes and marathon luminaries. As six unique stories unfold, each runner prepares for and ultimately faces the challenge of the Chicago Marathon.
The film follows first-time marathoners Leah Caille and Lori O’Conner; repeat marathoners Ryan Bradley and Gerald Meyers; elite athlete Daniel Njenga; and Olympic Bronze Medalist Deena Kastor. Also featured are legendary marathoners such as Dick Beardsley, Sara Mae Berman, Amby Burfoot, Paula Radcliffe and Bill Rodgers.
