Joseph Gordon-Levitt, left, and Zooey Deschanel star in “500 Days of Summer.”
Fox Searchlight will release “500 Days of Summer” on July 17. Written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber and directed by Marc Webb, the film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zooey Deschanel, Geoffrey Arend and Chloe Grace Moretz.
“This is a story of boy meets girl,” begins the wry, probing narrator of “500 Days of Summer.” With that, the film takes off at breakneck speed into a funny, true-to-life and unique dissection of the unruly and unpredictable year-and-a-half of one young man’s no-holds-barred love affair.
At age 28, Gordon-Levitt already has a long list of acting credits, including film and television. To many, he is best known for his role as Tommy Solomon on “3rd Rock from the Sun.”
Deschanel has appeared in a number of movies, including “Elf” (2003), “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (2005), “Failure to Launch” (2006), “Bridge to Terabithia” (2007) and “The Happening” (2008). She also had the lead role in the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries “Tin Man.”
