An invading alien robot pursues Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon), AKA Ginormica, having been clobbered with a meteor full of outer space gunk and growing to 49-feet, 11-inches tall – in DreamWorks Animation’s “Monsters vs. Aliens.”
PINELLAS COUNTY – A number of new movie releases will hit theaters March 27, including the following films opening in wide release:
“Monsters vs. Aliens” – When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet, 11-inches tall. The military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound.
There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of Monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus.
Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, the president is persuaded to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction. Rated PG.
“The Haunting of Connecticut” – Based on a chilling true story, Lionsgate’s “The Haunting in Connecticut” charts one family’s terrifying, real-life encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural.
When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner’s clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover.
Now, unspeakable terror awaits when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the dead, returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family. Rated PG-13.
“12 Rounds” – From the director of “Die Hard 2” and the producer of “Speed” comes “12 Rounds,” starring John Cena as New Orleans Police Detective Danny Fisher.
When Fisher stops a brilliant thief, Miles, from getting away with a multi-million-dollar heist, the thief’s girlfriend is accidentally killed. After escaping from prison, the criminal mastermind enacts his revenge, taunting Danny with a series of near-impossible puzzles and tasks ... 12 rounds ... that Danny must somehow complete to save the life of his fiancee. Rated PG-13.
