MADEIRA BEACH – Award-winning first-run independent and foreign films are now available at Gulf Beaches Library. For the first time local film fans may go to their local library to see the latest releases from Cannes and Sundance through an innovative subscription DVD service called Film Movement.
On Tuesday, June 6, 5:30 p.m., “Wilby Wonderful” will be shown. About the story: It is Thursday morning on Wilby Island, a small East Coast community just minutes by ferry from the mainland. While the islanders prepare for the yearly festival, a scandal rocks the quiet town. Relationships that once seemed solid and strong begin to crumble. Thursday evening turns into Thursday night, and the islanders begin to find out how interconnected their community really is. They soon discover what is at the center of the scandal that threatens to blow the lid off life on Wilby Island as they know it and change them forever.
Each month Film Movement releases a new film to the Gulf Beaches Library. Films are released on DVD at the same time as they open in theaters. As a result, film fans everywhere are able to see the first-run releases. Film Movement also grants performance rights to libraries to show the films on-screen at their facilities.
A new Film Movement film will be shown on the first Tuesdays in the conference room. The library is at 200 Municipal Drive. Call 391-2828 or visit www.tblc.org/gulfbeaches.
