Auditions for The Runner Stumbles

CLEARWATER - Auditions for The Runner Stumbles are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday, March 4-5, 7 p.m. at the West Coast Players Theatre.
Production dates are Friday, April 19, through Sunday, May 5.
Director Linda Weir and stage manager Cathy Winchester are looking to cast the following characters:
- Amos, guard at jail, age 25
- Father Rivard, age 40+
- Erma Prindle, female, age 35+
- Toby Felker, defense attorney, age 27+
- Sister Rita, age27+
- Mrs Shandig, housekeeper, female, age 50+
- Prosecutor, male, age 40+
- Monsignor Nicholson, male, age 50+
- Louise, female, age 19+
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
The Runner Stumbles was named best Broadway Play of 1978 in the annual best Plays book. The play is based on a true story. A young nun dies under mysterious circumstances in remote northern Michigan and her superior, Father Rivard, is charged with her murder. The scenes alternate between the present and the past, bringing to life the action in the court room and allowing the audience to see what occurred in the past that led to the tragedy.
