The cast of A Bad Year for Tomatoes playing through May 4 at Early Bird Dinner Theatre.
CLEARWATER – “A Bad Year for Tomatoes,” by John Patrick, runs through May 4, at Early Bird Dinner Theatre, 13355 49th St. N.
This hilarious comedy deals with the misfortunes of a famous television actress who seeks to “get away from it all” in a small New England town. Fed up with the pressures and demands of her acting career, the famous Myra Marloe leases a house in New England to write her autobiography. Dealing with her nosy neighbors turns out to be more difficult than she imagined so she invents a mad homicidal sister who is kept locked in an upstairs room. The ruse works well until the local handyman develops an affection for sister Sadie and complications ensue.
The Early Bird ensemble is led by artistic director Toby Manion, who also is acting in this zany comedy. Other stars are Barbara Anthony, Jeff Smith, Charles W. Wilcox, Deb Birchler and newcomers to Early Bird, Dana Kovar, Peter J. Konowicz, and Carmilina Alford.
