Eckerd College’s Bininger Theater will be the stage for upcoming performances for A Simple Theatre. Bininger is a large proscenium theater with a steeply pitched auditorium with approximately 350 seats, has flexible systems for lighting and staging, and lobby/gallery space.
ST. PETERSBURG - A Simple Theatre announced it has entered into an agreement with Eckerd College to produce its plays in Bininger Theater on the Eckerd College campus, located at 4200 54th Ave. S. in St. Petersburg. This new relationship will be recognized as "A Simple Theatre in residence at Eckerd College."

Gavin Hawk, artistic director of A Simple Theatre and assistant professor of Theatre at Eckerd College said in a press release about the move, “I am thrilled with this agreement. We will have a permanent home in which we can produce our plays, in a space that has proper lighting and sound equipment, and an existing scene and costume shop. We will also be able to work with current theatre students at the college, enabling them to obtain valuable real-world experience.”

"Gavin's theatrical achievements have made a mark on Eckerd's students and on St. Petersburg," said Dr. Donald R. Eastman III, president of Eckerd College. "We are pleased to enter into this partnership with A Simple Theatre, an artistic endeavor with which Eckerd is proud to be associated."

A Simple Theatre’s first production at Eckerd College will be "Good Egg" by Dorothy Fortenberry. The production will run July 11 - 28, 2013, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

About "Good Egg"

Responsible Meg has always taken care of her bipolar, younger brother Matt. But when she decides to get pregnant - and have her embryos screened for bipolar disorder - is she taking the idea of "being responsible" too far? A funny and surprising play about bioethics, siblings, and the limits of unconditional love. The production will feature A Simple Theatre founder Meg Heimstead in the role of Meg.
